January 12, 17 and 19:
  1. We talked about the internet and the world wide web. We learned what the difference was. We also learned about both founders of Google. Larry Page and Sergey Brin

January 24 and 26:
  1. Covered introduction to Google and the features that exist.
  2. Assigned a paper, that must be typed. Describe four methods of Boolean searches when using Google. You must use your own example.
  3. Lectured on Google Calendaring. Students set up a Google calendar. Added their classes in consecutive order; added whatever other items they used; and synced their cell phones.
  4. More Calendaring assignments, sharing, and importing calendars will occur next week, along with sms and daily agendas......
January 31 and February 2:
  1. January 31: Ashley taught us how to imbed a photo into your calendar background. Teacher assigned, the following: Set up photo background. Set up notification with sms and email notifications. Proxy and share rights with a classmate; make changes to each others calendars. Merge with a public calendar of your choice.
  2. Using a real company, we are going to place adwords into google and build and track adwords advertisements. Students broke up into groups of four. They are going to make a list of areas and locations for the ads to place. We decided on the midwest. We will expand our ad placement. Each group should come up with keywords that people use in google to search for a company like operationmustang.com as well as a list of similiar sites and genres. Each group should have a list of about 50 items ready to go on Tuesday for ad placement.

February 7:
  1. February 7: Students worked in their groups. They put their assignments into a spread sheet form to be presented to their potential client, tomorrow.
February 14 and 16th:
  1. February 14: Placed operation mustang ad.
  2. February 16: Reviewed the ad placement and keywords. Discussed CTR, CPC, PPC, CPM, analytics, code placement.
February 28 and March 1:
  1. Worked on Google Adwords. Used Google Docs, shared, and made comments.
March 6 and March 8:
  1. March 6:Create a Word Doc. We assigned a Dear Abby doc - apply a style change some font colors, change font size; upload it to Google docs; make changes, share it, and edit it with another and to another's page.
  2. March 8: Worked on Google Earth - toured around, became familiar with the application and the downloaded desktop software. We had 25 to research and explore.
  3. Assignments that are due for next Tuesday at the beginning of class: Print the first Google doc "Dear Abby" that was assigned using Google docs. Print the second document called: Dear Abby 2. It was created in Word and uploaded into Google. Print THAT Google doc. Do not print the Word doc.
March 13 and 15:
  1. March 13: Open up Google spreadsheet, put in some basic formulas (taught during class-- and very light formulas) and then share it with a classmate. Each person making comments by right clicking on the cell and choosing, insert comments, and inserting a coment. Uploading your work to Excel.
March 20:
  1. March 20: In groups of 3, we are building a 20 slide Google presentation using the presentation software. In the presentation you will cover: Google Docs, document, spreadsheet and presentation. The history of each. The comparing and the contrasting of the documents to that of MS Office. 20 slides, 5 animations, 2 types of transitions, no more than 10 words per slide, sound, and each presentation will last no more than 15 minutes.
  2. Using your PowerPoint skills, combined with youtube, put together a bang up presentation.
April 10:
  1. April 10: Finished Google apps presentations. Prepared for quiz on Thursday.
